Mrs. Hlengiwe Ndaba

Director: Social and Economic Services

H Hlengiwe Ndaba was born in Nkandla in the uThungulu District Municipality of KwaZulu-Natal.  

She was appointed as the Director of Social and Economic Services at Okhahlamba Local Municipality in July 2023.

Mrs. Ndaba matriculated through Nkandla High School. She relocated to Bergville in 1994.

She joined Okhahlamba Local Municipality in 2002. She has worked consistently through the years and has grown through the ranks at the municipality. 

She was appointed as the Tourism Development Officer, and, thereafter as the LED Officer. In 2017, She was appointed as the LED Manager.

Before joining Okhahlamba Local Municipality, she worked at Harvey World, a travel agency, as a Bookings Clerk.

The Local Economic Development is responsible for the provision of the municipal LED Services inclusive of:

Our section articulates the approach to economic development through the Municipality’s Integrated Development Plan (IDP) and an Economic Development Strategy (EDS) from which all activities are guided by, but not restricted to, as the section also responds to the broader challenges facing the municipal constituency by endorsing other initiatives such as the Provincial Growth Development Strategy.

The development of Small Businesses is now recognized as a common strategy for Local Economic Development in South Africa. We as the municipality are playing a facilitation role between governments initiatives to support SMME’s and further play a role in providing the necessary infrastructure for business to thrive.
